A Color Shift

Back on June 9th, I posted a blog that documented my art style at the time. At the time, I noted how my style centered around three main points: bright colors, eyes, and clouds. These points are still key aspects of the foundation of my art, however, since posting that blog, I have began to further hone in my distinct look and feel. In fact, I believe I have made my traits a bit more broad yet specific at the same time. Let me tell you what I mean.

1. A darker composition with a focus on using bright colors accents.

In this style, I can pin point exactly where I want the viewer to look at in my composition. By utilizing bright pinks, purples, and blue alongside their darker counterparts, I have the ability to guide viewers across my art piece and produce very tone heavy final pieces. This can be seen very clearly in two of my more recent posts: "I get lost in your looks..." and "Expand You Mind". In both pieces, I utilize a dark background that allows me to accent different parts of the main subject. In the former, that part of the subject was the woman's goggles, and in the latter I pointed focus towards the statues head. Aside from drawing in focus, this style also appeals to me because of how futuristic or mysterious it can sometimes look.

2. A focus on eyes and other entries into an object.

This aspect of my altered style may seem a bit odd, but let me explain. What I mean by entries into an object are windows, car headlights, goggles, and much more. I see these types of objects as portals or windows.. They appear as entryways and windows for light and creativity to flow from. In fact, I am currently in a phase where goggles and other eye-wear are a big focus point for me. There is just something about eyes that makes me obsessed with how many ways they can be altered or allured to.

3. An emphasis on colorful light and how it interacts with the overall composition.

Fully integrating light into a composition has always been a challenge for me in the past. However, in recent weeks I have began pushing myself to learn different techniques and knowledge about how to properly include light. This push definitely paid off as my second most recent post, "I get lost in your looks..," is now my favorite piece of mine. In my opinion, colored light is always amazing to look at and brings an engaging source of color to my artwork.

Overall, this new shift in style is another big step for me in terms of finding my final unique look. This goal is a very important one to me as I begin to grow as an artist, but also as a professional. Finding that recognizable style and applying it to all that you do is important to have and especially with branding or other forms of content creation. I hope that this trend of mine continues and that I can continue to take you all along on my design journey.

Let me know down in the comments if you like this new shift in style! Also, don't forget to like and share this post if you enjoyed it!
