In today's world, we all spend a lot of time on the Internet. Whether it be reading a news article or listening to that new song you heard earlier in the day, we all use the Internet to entertain ourselves on a consistent basis. However, the most amazing thing about the Internet, in my opinion, is the nearly seamless connection we can have with others. It seems as if a majority of our social interactions nowadays are in the virtual world. And while that may seem like a bad thing, it has allowed us to do things that were nowhere near possible before.

For example, playing video games is an activity I constantly use to have fun and relax. However, one thing that is better than playing video games is playing video games with friends. Thanks to the Internet, I have been able to make new friendships that could not have happened without it. The many friends that I play with online come from all over the world. I have met people from California, Texas, Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Spain all from the confines of my room in Ohio. Even thinking of this now still blows my mind. The fact that we can now instantly communicate with people who are hundreds and even thousands of miles away is absolutely incredible. However, an aspect of the Internet that I find even more amazing is something that is now engraved in our society and that is social media. The website on which I think this is showcased the best is a little old website called Reddit.

For those of you who don't know, Reddit is basically the front page of the Internet. It is a forum website that you can post and read about anything you can think of. Have you ever found something but wasn't really sure what it was? Just take a picture and upload it to the WhatIsThisThing subreddit and you'll have almost 600 thousand people who can try to help you figure it out. Or maybe you have a question you have been stumped on all week. Don't worry about it because there is a subreddit of over 15 million people called ExplainLikeI'mFive to help you figure it out. It is just mind-boggling to think that we now have access to nearly every possible thing we need to know. We now have an endlessly growing resource of knowledge, entertainment, and even happiness. All in all, the Internet still just amazes me and I love it to death!

(Also, the subreddits I mentioned above are just two of thousands out there for you to find. I would definitely recommend just taking a little bit of time trying to get lost on that site! There is something for everyone and it is so much fun.)
