In my last post, I spoke about the artists I look to for inspiration and shared a few details about their respective styles. In today's post, I figured I would share a little bit about my own style and how it was developed.
When I first began creating and designing artwork on a consistent basis, I really had no idea what route to take in terms of style. For example, if you were to look back at my first posts on my Instagram, you can quite clearly see that I was all over the place in terms of style. There were fantasy themed composites, vaporwave, typography focused pieces, and even weird cartoon glitch art. I kept bouncing around different styles for a month or two, but finally, on February 7, I found the beginnings of what my style is today. It was actually a very simple piece made up of a roman bust on a pink background with some colored squares (photo below). As I look at this piece again today, I can see the ingredients for a majority of my pieces today.

In short, my style today is typically made of these 3 things:
1. An emphasis on bright, eye-catching colors. These include shades of pink, purple, bright blues, and glowing oranges. If you look at my Instagram account now, you can easily see that one of these colors are prominent in nearly every piece. Bright colors make the pieces pop and draw the viewer deeper into the artwork.
2. A focus on the eyes. Inspired by the likes of Slimesunday, my obsession with vision really comes down to my fascination with how important eyes are in society. For example, if you were to see someone with a hood or dark glasses covering their eyes, you may see them as somewhat shady. This interaction is the same as how glasses may make people seem more intelligent. I like playing with these interactions and see how I can cover or distort the eyes in a certain way to get different reactions.
3. The use of clouds. I tend to use them as backgrounds in a lot of my work. I use them because they provide a good amount of contrast and interest points in the background that give the overall artwork much more detail. Plus, I love the feeling that they can evoke when they're distorted or colored in a certain fashion.
Overall, my style today centers around those 3 points: bright colors, eyes, and clouds. Combining them creates an interesting and appealing piece of art that I will continue to use as I grow as a creator and artist.
